Harry's back story: It is revealed early in Season 2 that Harry knew Dexter's mother and was responsible for putting her in the situation that caused her death. Harry feels a heavy responsibility to nurture Dexter and to try to ameliorate the effects of his twisted behavior (which is probably due to Dexter witnessing his mother's murder). Though Harry's death was publicized as a losing battle to heart disease, Dexter is told by Captain Matthews late in Season 2 that Harry actually committed suicide. It was also revealed in season 2 that Harry was having an affair with Dexter's mother, and in season 4 we find out that Dexter's mother was just one of Harry's numerous affairs.

If "Dexter time" corresponds with real time, then Harry's birthday is September 28. Anyone have any idea what the year is? (It would be nice if it was 1953, same as James Remar, but I don't think I'm that lucky.)

And just out of curiosity, does anyone know the date of death? If it's ten years before the pilot, the year is 1996, but the rest I'm not sure on.

With all his 'burdens', he definitely put *Dexey* on the Top of the Predator Food chain. Still doesn't change the fact Dexter is looking for 'others' who are empty.
His *sister* is also looking for validation....love the 'synergy'.
