Episode summary:As it turned out, Dexter was not deeply shot in his leg, but suffered a large graze wound. It caused him plenty of discomfort, but was not so incapacitating that he has to explain anything yet. Doakes meanwhile taunted Dexter, telling him he only had two choices - kill him or let him go, and Dexter struggled with his biggest predicament yet.
A lot of what Dexter decided to do next came from him thinking about the people he cared about - Deb, Rita and the kids. In voiceover he noted "I've been selfish, only thinking about what happens to me, but if I were revealed as the Bay Harbor Butcher, Rita and the kids would be destroyed" and later he also mused on what it would do to Deb.
First Dexter threatened to kill Doakes, in a sequence that took a clever twist after we learned that Dexter's real motive was in fact to get Doakes' fingerprints on Bay Harbor Butcher murder weapons, which he did by spiking Doakes' water. Dexter kicking those weapons into the water, in a place he knew they'd be found, definitely confirmed his decision to go all the way and possibly condemn Doakes to life in prison or death, assuming those weapons are used to convict him.
We learn that Harry did not die because of heart problems or hardening arteries, but actually committed suicid. This revelation, made by Captain Matthews, has an effect on Dexter. He confides in Rita at the beach while Angel plays with his daughter and Rita's kids.
Deb and Lundy seem to have their first relationship tiff, when they speak about what is going to happen after the Bay Harbor butcher case is resolved. Deb gleans the impression that Lundy sees the relationship ending when the BHB case ends. They have a lunch date to talk, and Deb tells Lundy that not knowing if the relationship would grow was exciting to her, that everything was "all possibility." Lundy is visibly affected by her statements, but their tete-a-tete is interrupted by news that Doakes rental car records have turned up, and no commitment statement is made by Lundy.
Lila on the other hand was painting her loft with Angel when she decided to sleep with him, telling him that she liked it "rough," and then take the Rhypnol that she had aquired earlier in the day from one of her connections. We see her falling to the floor in the bathroom after she washed the pills down with wine, and Angel calling for an ambulance.
The episode ends when Dexter kills his latest victim, a drug dealing, murdering contact of Jimenez's, with Doakes just a few feet away, stuck in his cage. It changes to flashback of Harry walking in on Dexter killing Juan Rinez in the garage. When Harry saw what Dexter had done, he told Dexter to "stay away." Doakes repeats the same phrase to Dexter and asks Dexter: "What Morgan what now?. Dexter says. "I killed my father. "

Written by:Scott Reynolds
Directed by:Steve Schill | Description of crime: The continued investigation of the "Bay Harbor Butcher"
New Developments: With Doakes as the primary suspect in this investigation, his house and all his belongs are being combed through by the FBI in order to make any kind of solid connection between him and the BHB.
La Guerta was able to show some evidence to Lundy that should've proved that Doakes couldn't have been the BHB, however because they were from her personal journals, and because she failed to report the phone call from Doakes earlier, Lundy feels he can't rightly use that evidence.
A hit came up on the FBI's computers for one of Doakes' fake ID's. It is now known exactly what kind of rental car Doakes is driving.

Why victim deserves it: He's killed a few of his own working girls.
Dexter's kill methods and rituals: Because this kill is seen as a flashback, its unclear how refined his methods were, but the signature plastic wrapped walls were present
Victim's last words: Unknown
Location of killing: Harry's garage
Close calls/slip-ups: Because Dexter somehow thought it was a good idea to kill this guy at his own home, and while Harry was home, Harry walks in on Dexter cutting the guy up. Victim's last words: None - he's unconscious.

| SIGNIFICANCE OF EPISODE TITLE |
| This episode title refers to a comment Doakes makes right as he is about to pass out from a drug Dexter gives him. He mentions something about Harry being a psycho just like Dexter. Doakes later reveals to Dexter that Harry committed suicide and didn't actually die from heart failure. Dexter later realizes it was his own fault that Harry felt compelled to kill himself. This also an obvious nod to the title of the famous comedy movie There's Something About Mary. |
EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS Best Moments:
- Really, just any scene between Dexter and Doakes in the cabin.
- Deb and Lundy talk about what their relationship will be like after the BHB investigation is through.
- Deb confronting LaGuerta about the recent phone conversation she had with Doakes and her failure to report it.
| Best Lines:
- "I've been selfish, only thinking about what happens to me. But if I were revealed as the true Bay Harbor Butcher, Rita and the kids would be devastated" (Dexter, to himself).
- "You are the only one I can count on, jack ass!" (Deb, to Dexter).
- "Of course I have a conscience; I left you a place to sh!t didn't I?" (Dexter, to Doakes).
- "The legendary Harry Morgan. Force for justice. Architect for all that I am. Suicide? It doesn't make sense" (Dexter, to himself).
- "It was me. The idea of a code is one thing. A grand idea. A noble cause. But the reality of it... Harry walked in on what he created and couldn't live with himself" (Dexter, to himself)
| EPISODE TRIVIA
- Goofs: Doakes hears an incoming phone call on Santos Jimenez's cell phone. The phone is in a box on the table which is behind a stack of coke and a scale. Next time we see Doakes, he is attempting to retrieve the phone with the coke and scales conveniently moved out of the way.
- Strange place for a phone: It should be noted that when Lila passes out from the drug, and Angel calls the police, he uses the phone that Lila keeps right next to her toilet. Why would anyone have a phone next to their toilet?
- "One missed call": Angel gets an impeccably well-timed "missed call" alert while painting with Lila. This is a trope the series relies on occasionally when they need to move the plot along but can't think of any legitimate way to do it. Why didn't Angel hear the initially call he got from his ex-wife? His phone was on him and very audible. This type of thing will happen a few more times in the series, most notably in the finale moments of the season four finale, when Dexter gets the most ironically timed missed call alert that by all means he should've received hours earlier.
- Missing person alert: It's obvious that the actress playing Angel's daughter in this episode is not the same young girl who portrayed the same character last season.
